Tri Training

Since 2008, my second last year of high school I've fostered a love for fitness.

In the beginning it started with cycling distances of around 20km on my steel-frame MTB. Eventually I made the decision to purchase a road only bike, a 2009 Avanti Monza. Since making this purchase I can say I began regular planned cycles usually early of a morning or late afternoon to avoid peak-traffic times. As much as I would have liked to have kept up my regular riding with the occassional run thrown in, I simply couldn't due to higher education and work commitments.

In 2011, I started noticing how much my face had changed over the years. I noticed in high-school when I was relatively active my face was quite flat but it was now looking quite rounded and 'fatty.' So, I found the motivation within myself to get back into cycling on my Monza. After several months of proving to myself I could be physically active again I purchased a new bike and a Garmin Forerunner 310XT to track my fitness improvements and keep me interested.

I can say that by tracking my fitness through a GPS enabled bike and running watch it's kept me interested and motivated.

I use Strava to track my improvements and keep me interested by challenging others on popular Strava segments.

I currently ride or run about 10 hours a week and when I have the extra time I compete in Strava challenges.

Some of the Strava Challenges I've completed since joining Strava in 2012 include; CTS Bucket List Challenge, August 2013 Half-Marathon, Run 8K Recovery, PowerBar Take on the Tour and the Rapha Rising: LA Centieme Challenge.
